Pastor of The Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church Phenix City, Alabama
Noble Williams, the son of
Abraham and Annie Mae Williams, is a lifelong Alabama resident and
graduate of Pacelli High School in Columbus, Georgia, attended Columbus
State University and the Beacon Theological Seminary.
He was employed for
twenty-three years as a locomotive engineer with Norfolk Southern
Railway when he received his calling to go into the Ministry and was
ordained in 1997. He has served as Senior Pastor of Greater Mount Zion
Baptist Church since 1999. During this assignment, there has been an
exciting and rewarding manifestation of the power of God in the church
and his personal life. The church has doubled in size under his
leadership with major renovations and acquisitions of property within
its vicinity. The church has an explosive Youth Ministry and a fruitful
Homeless Ministry as well as a number of other programs. Pastor
Williams' love of the gospel has taken him to Mozambique, Africa, where
he led crusades and pastors' conferences followed with a recent trip to
the Holy Land.
His various leadership and
community roles have provided him many opportunities to serve the
citizens of Phenix City. As one of only three African Americans to be
elected as councilman, he has served two terms. Additionally, he has
served on the Planning Commission and Riverfront Development Committee.
He was named one of fifty most influential African Americans in the
tri-city area of Columbus and Fort Moore, Georgia and Phenix City,
Alabama. Because of his love for children, he has served as a coach for
Girls Softball and Little League Baseball. This desire to see the
growth of youth programs has led to his being influential in the
building and renovation of Little League Football facilities, softball
fields, and walking trails.
He is married to, Dorothy
Parkman Williams, his partner in ministry and life. They have three
children, Shurette, Tisha, and Brandon, and seven
grandchildren-Christopher, Keith, Eryn, Tristan, Kaleyn, Anthony and
Ameya, and two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Kailey
Pastor Williams believes, and therefore speaks, The Safest Place in The World is the Will of God!
